Retirement Portfolio Networth - Update and 2023 Year In Review

 The goal:

1. Retirement Equity Portfolio of $1,000,000
2. Rental Portfolio Value of $1,200,000
3. Annual Passive Income of $60,000 (rental income + dividends combined)

We are currently mortgage free but won’t be including the value of our principal residence or cottage as we have no plans to sell either. We have also omitted the value of our workplace defined benefit pension plans and children’s RESP.

COMMENTARY:
Although markets struggled for most of the year they rallied and finished strong. Overall it was an OK but not great year for our portfolio. We increased our net worth by $213,607 while only contributing $52,510 from our savings ($14,860 in debt reduction and $37,650 worth of contributions to our investment accounts). Our dividend income also increased 15% to $25,348 (avg $2,112 month). This is equivalent to having a full time job (40hrs a week) at $12.19/hr.
