Retirement Portfolio Net Worth - as of Nov1-2018
The goal is a retirement portfolio net worth of $1,000,000 and an annual passive income of $40,000. We are currently mortgage free but won’t be including the value of our principal residence or cottage as we have no plans to sell either. We have also omitted the value of our workplace defined benefit pension plans and our children’s RESPs. Well the markets have been in a real free fall in Oct and like most investors we felt a bit of pain. Overall our portfolio lost $26,000 which is approximately 5%. Even though that's a pretty substantial paper loss we still fared better than the overall market this month. Instead of selling I actually did a little bit buying and picked up some shares of ING and BEP. We didn't make any new contributions this month and I spent another $300 on materials for one of the rentals.
