2020 Year in Review

Despite a rising net worth (up $67,445 in 2020) our retirement portfolio really did not perform well in 2020. This was largely caused by us being 100% invested in equities. When the pandemic hit our portfolio was walloped hard. Thankfully, we didn't panic and stayed fully invested in the markets and  even put the small amount of capital we had available to average down in certain positions. As readers know if a stock goes down 50% it has to go up 100% from there to get back to where it started. With that in mind the stock market did rally in the second half of 2020 and our portfolio recovered. Another notable metric was our dividends received. Despite the pandemic our annual dividends increased by 15.5% bringing our annual dividend income to $20,237. If we can maintain this annual increase we'll be making over $30,000 annually within the next 5 years.
